Wall-E Cut Short By Oscar

Peter Gabriel will not perform his Oscar nominated "Down To Earth", from the film Wall-E, this Sunday at the Academy Awards.
In a vid posted on his website, 59 year-old Grammy winner Gabriel shares his sudden change of plans with fans.
"We were originally hoping to perform. We'd assumed, as there are only 3 nominees. But in fact, producers have been called in to revamp [the Oscars], and one of the things they decided to cut are the songs, so we were only been offered 60-65 seconds as part of a medley."
"So I've now decided, very recently, to just withdraw from the ceremony. I'll still go along 'cause it's a fun adventure. But I won't be performing."
"Songwriters, even though they're a small part of the whole filmmaking process, we still work bloody hard and I think deserve a place in your ceremony as well."
"So we're gonna see if the Soweto Gospel Choir might take my place."
The 2 other nominated songs are Rahman's "Jai Ho" and Rahman and M.I.A.'s "O Saya", both from Slumdog Millionaire.
