Free from his Oscar shackles, comedian Billy Crystal will instead present a 6-hour documentary celebrating the best comics in the biz.

Starting on Jan 14, Make 'Em Laugh: The Funny Business of America will air over 3 nights on PBS.

Crystal will host each installment which chronicles the funniest filmed moments from Charlie Chaplin to Chris Rock.

Laugh creator Michael Kantor praises Crystal as "a real national treasure."

"As host of the Oscars, he made the programs unforgettable. No one can make 'em laugh like Billy Crystal."
