The Best 'Written' Videogame
Posted on Jan 13, 2009 @ 09:43AM
That's right.
For the second year in a row, the Writers Guild of America -- y'know, the union that struck last year and cost the industry billions -- has released its list of nominees for the Best Written Videogame of the year. Most people don't think of videogames as being scripted entertainment, but without a story it's just a bunch of shooting or driving.
Which it is, anyway.
Still, the nominees for 2008 are:
-Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3, which is set in an alternate reality where there was never a WWII.
-Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble! set in a 1920s girls' boarding school.
-Fallout 3, a post-apocalyptic game.
-Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, which lets players help form the Rebel Alliance.
-Tomb Raider: Underworld, the most recent exploits of kickass Lara Croft.
The awards will be given on February 7.
