Matthews: Forget Senate
Posted on Jan 08, 2009 @ 10:26AM
Chris Matthews won't be playing hardball in the U.S. Senate. The TV host has finally made a decision about running for the U.S. Senate in his home state of Pennsylvania.
The MSNBC Hardball host told his producers that he won't seek the Democratic nomination for the seat currently filled by moderate Republican Arlen Specter.
Rather, Matthews is thinking about accepting a contract renewal offer from MSNBC. According to The Hollywood Reporter, network president Phil Griffin expects Matthews to remain at the news cable channel "for a long time."
The 63 year-old Matthews has hosted Hardball since 1997.
