WKRP Returns

Cincinnati residents will be proud to hear that WRKP is back on the air.
The TV station, originally called WBQC-TV, altered its letters to WKRP, paying homage to the fictional radio station from the hit show WKRP in Cincinnati, which ran from 1978-1982, and starred Howard Hesseman and Loni Anderson.
According to general manager Elliot Block, the new name makes the station more recognizable. The station also felt the time for the change was right to advertise its new digital TV signal.
