Maybe Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke knew what she was doing when she opted out of the sequel New Moon because she needed more time.

Producers at Summit Entertainment said yesterday that the next film -- which is being directed by Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass) -- will be released in just 11 months, on November 20, 2009.

That doesn't only include shooting the movie, which hasn't even begun, but creating the complex special effects.

Unlike this year, the film will face some serious competition for the big Thanksgiving moviegoing crowd. Also opening in that slot are the Robert Downey, Jr. film Sherlock Holmes, the animated science fictioner Planet 51, and The Farrelly Brothers' 3 Stooges film.
