Despite its upcoming home viewing release, The Dark Knight will be back in movie theaters on January 23.

The idea is to capitalize on what are sure to be multiple Oscar nominations. The nominees will be announced on January 22.

However, there's another reason to bring back the Bat. The film has earned just over $996 million internationally. A re-release will put it over the $1 billion mark, which has been crossed by only three other films in movie history: Titanic, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
