The mystery of the 'Army author' who's giving Tom Clancy a run for his money has been solved.

The man behind the scenes, both figuratively and literally, is Brig. Gen. Anthony Tata.

Tata has been stationed in Afghanistan as deputy director for operations of the Joint IED Defeat Organization for nearly 3 years, and has written several, well-received war stories under the name A.J. Tata.

Tata's latest novel, Sudden Threat, has been called "riveting entertainment at its best" by the Military Writers Society of America, and cited as a "must read author" by the NY Times.

However, unlike Mr. Clancy, Brig. Gen Tata is donating 100% of his royalties to the USO Hospital Services Program for wounded warriors.

"I chose the program because 93 to 95 cents on the dollar go directly to the intended recipients," Tata recently told press.
