No, actor Chris Noth -- Mr. Big on Sex and the City and the former star of Law & Order: Criminal Intent -- is not running for office. Not that we know of, anyway.

He's appearing in the Atlantic Theater Company's off-Broadway production of the political play Farragut North. It just opened and is running through November 29 at the Linda Gross Theater.

Noth plays the campaign manager of a Democratic candidate for President right before the Iowa caucuses.

Noth hadn't intended to work just now, preferring to spend time with his honey Tara Wilson and young son Orion at home in California.

"Then you read the play," he told the Associated Press. He couldn't turn down something "that's really exceptionally well written."
