Layoffs Affect Stars, Too

You think you're the only one tightening your belt?
The longrunning NBC daytime soap Days of Our Lives have given pink slips to longtime stars Drake Hogestyn and Deidre Hall as part of a series of budget cuts.
Guess that ends the romantic toryline of Dr. Marlena Evans and John Black. Hall is a particular surprise, a "name" star who has been with the show since June, 1976. Black joined the cast in 1984.
The cuts were made to buy the 43 year-old series at least another 18 months on the air.
