Angelina Jolie tells the upcoming issue of Britain's Harper's Bazaar magazine that she doesn't feel the need to apologize or explain herself. And then explains: "I am still, at heart -- and always will be -- just a punk kid with tattoos."

Jolie also tells the mag she has an unusual way of selecting her parts. She said she picks characters she'd like to meet in real life.

As for protecting her brood from the more violent films she's made, like Tomb Raider, Jolie doesn't bother.

"We don't take war and violence lightly, but we don't hide it from anybody."
