After 40 years, the Vatican forgives John Lennon.

Many religious leaders were outraged by the music legend's 1966 assertion that the Beatles were "more popular than Jesus."

Now the Vatican's official newspaper L'Osservatore Romano, absolves John Lennon of his wrong doing, stating, "After so many years it sounds merely like the boasting of an English working-class lad struggling to cope with unexpected success."

"The talent of Lennon and the other Beatles gave us some of the best pages in modern pop music."

Amen.
