Are we the only ones scared by this?

Yesterday, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger -- who famously played the laser-sight-wielding Terminator in three films -- took a trip to the Lawrence Livermore nuclear weapons facility to have a look at the new $3.5 billion superlaser.

"This laser has many exciting applications," a gleeful Schwarzenegger said of the device, known as the National Ignition Facility. "What's most exciting about it is the potential to revolutionize our energy future."

Riiiiiight. And help the evil Skynet subjugate humankind. We're watching you, Arnold.
