Steve Carell is said to be close to an agreement to star in The Beaver, a film about a man who wears a beaver puppet on his hand 24/7 and treats it as a living, intelligent being. (Can you say "Mr. Garrison from South Park"?)

The script is by first-time screenwriter Kyle Killen.

Carell is also likely to star in Get Smart 2 and Brigadier Gerard, which is set in the time of Napoleon.
