More Sarah Palin beauty pageant footage! This time it's the talent portion of the competition, and it features the future Alaska governor's flute stylings. We're not really instrumental buffs, but her playing does seem to eerily presage her interview demeanor: She takes a treacly, empty phrase and repeats it over and over, with few variations. As talents go it's not exactly up there with a young George W. Bush's ability to light his own farts while singing Puccini's Nessun dorma—something a fellow Skull & Bones member recalled years later as "bringing tears to your eyes, for several reasons"—but we're all about lower standards these days, so we suppose it'll have to do.
