In one of the more curious celeb endorsements of the political season, U2's Bono—who is Irish—did not back either presidential candidate. Instead, he told a throng of Starbucks employees at a leadership conference in New Orleans that next Tuesday's election is an opportunity to "relaunch Brand USA."

The singer said that the United States used to stand for compassion and social responsibility, qualities that have been lost. Whoever occupies the White House, he said, has a "great chance" to reclaim that kind of leadership.
