In case you missed it, embattled New York Rep. Vito Fossella was convicted on Friday of driving under the influence in Virginia, despite a novel defense in which the congressman's lawyer "claimed that his use of alcohol-heavy hand sanitizer during the day on May 1 contributed to the .17 he blew on the Alexandria PD's blood-alcohol test that night." The trial judge will hold a hearing on December 8th to determine whether Fossella was drunk enough to warrant jail time.
