Are you surprised to hear that the reviews of the Madonna film are not very good? Her estranged and apparently "emotionally retarded" husband may be quite gratified! "A ridiculously easy target," says the New York Times—which is otherwise not completely insulting! There is this bit of geniusness: "while her movie meanders hither and yon, it all works out because life is a giant virgin-whore paradox." Of course Anthony Lane gets in the bitchiest word of all.
