Back in April, ABC's Jake Tapper turned out a blistering investigation into the smoking habits of Barack Obama which—apart from the undeniable news value of it—contained one of the most self-congratulatory celebrations of the media in history. It seemed like an achievement which would stand for all time. Yesterday, however, CBS' Dean Reynolds played Cal Ripken to Tapper's Lou Gehrig, not only breaking the record, but shattering it into a million tiny pieces.
