Our e-mail box is constantly flooded with PR pitches. (Here's one we received not three minutes ago: "Good afternoon. Looking for a nutritious, tasty, and refreshing new beverage that is also low in calories? You say there is no such thing? Sun Shower™ has the answer with its new line of Light 'N Healthy Super Juice Beverages.) Most, as you can imagine, are totally useless. Sometimes, though, they can be intriguing. "The $39,000 Cell Phone!" was one such e-mail. Intrigued, we opened it. "Vertu: A Luxury Mobile Phone Without Equal." Huh. What kind of cell phone costs $39,000?, we asked the PR lady. She invited us to come find out at a party at the Plaza Hotel "with special guest Eric Mabius of hit show Ugly Betty." Also attending would be some guy named Bronson van Wyck (his last name was immortalized in that famous Seinfeld episode: "You took the Van Wyck?") and Julia Allison. Sign us up!
