Is the National Enquirer's new exclusive, which is accompanied by a blurry photo of a man who is allegedly John Edwards cradling a girl who is allegedly his love child in a hotel room that is allegedly in the Beverly Hilton, substantive enough to get the mainstream media on the case? Let's look at the new pieces, one by one:

The Enquirer reports that the mystery donor who has been paying out $15,000 a month to Edwards' purported mistress Rielle Hunter and an undisclosed sum to Edwards aide and fall man Andrew Young is actually "a rich retiree in Dallas, Texas." He, like all the other participants thus far, refused to comment for the story. David Perel, editor of the Enquirer, tells Radar that identifying the donor in a future issue "is a distinct possibility, if not probability."
