When Anderson Cooper began as a TV reporter—before he was grey!—he was half of a two-man operation, traveling in Africa, producing stories on the fly. So he was a little ahead of his time—and twice over-budget. Now his home, CNN, has a fleet of "all-platform journalists" who work alone to cover cities like "Seattle, Las Vegas, Orlando, and Raleigh-Durham," says TV boy-reporter Brian Stelter in the Times. It's like NPR, except with cell-phone video of hurricanes. And as newspapers are also becoming digital video companies, their plan is much the same.
