McCain on Biden: "Disappointing" How Ambition Has Changed Him

bidenmccain.jpg
In an exclusive interview over the weekend with Radar, John McCain threw a jab at his old Senate colleague, Joe Biden. It seems that, from McCain's perspective, unbridled ambition has brought about some unseemly changes in the gentleman from Delaware:

Radar: In his first speech Biden made as a VP nominee, he said he didn't know you anymore. What did you think of that?
McCain: It's a little disappointing when somebody does that. But ambition does interesting things to people.

There was a time your advisors were floating the possibility of a pro-choice vice president. Do you think Obama might've done some good for his party if he had chosen a pro-life vice president?
McCain: I guess I don't know. I know that Joe Biden is pro-choice. He's Catholic but he's pro-choice. I haven't let their selection process, or who they select, affect mine.

So, apparently the GOP vice presidential pick that might or might not be leaked in the lead-up to Obama's historical acceptance speech this evening, will either be pro-choice or pro-life politician.

But take heart—since we don't actually know the person's name yet there is still a little bit mystery intact.

(The full interview with McCain, including all the good stuff, will appear in the Oct/Nov issue of the magazine. It was conducted by Radar Washington Editor Ana Marie Cox.)
