< BACK TO Fresh Intelligence Mary-Kate Olsen Demands Immunity
Ledger, Olsen (Photo: Getty Images) Ledger, who died after accidentally overdosing on a cocktail of prescription drugs, had prescriptions for all the pills from two physicians except for the Oxycotin. One possible theory for Olsen's refusal to talk to the cops is that Ledger's masseuse called Olsen after discovering her name on the bottle of Oxycotin, prompting the diminutive actress to dispatch her bodyguards to the scene to clean up any evidence. (Olsen's people never actually called the police themselves, which doesn't particularly help her case.) The Post has called for Olsen to be interviewed ever since the NYPD denied the paper's scoop that the former Full House star received a series of frantic calls from the masseuse. "We confirmed this story with an impeccable source inside the NYPD, and we stand by our reporting," the paper's editor Col Allan said in the aftermath, adding, "we find it odd that the chiefs at the NYPD appear to be terrified of 4-foot 11 inch, 90-pound Mary Kate Olsen." (In a separate editorial, Andrea Peyser claimed to be "astonished" that the "Teflon midget" has been given a free pass.) Given the paper's thirst for justice in this matter, is it any surprise that the feds leaked them the story? Could M-K be the victim of a vicious case of press harassment because a paper blew a scoop? Whether her refusal to talk without immunity is simply her lawyer's call, or if it's because she is actually hiding something, remains to be seen. AND THERE'S SO MUCH MORE! • Heath Ledger's Dark Knight performance isn't Hollywood's first posthumous success • Confronting the douchebag plague • How man-eating model Carla Bruni went from rock 'n' roll ingenue to the fierce First Lady of France Things that make you go hmmmmm Posted by: Thecookie on August 4, 2008 2:24 PM Excuse me?...But doesn't Ms. Olsen resemble "the Joker"? What a terribly sad circumstance for her. She'll need some good psyhco-therapy to survive this loss of her lover Heath...I'm praying for her health and well being. I pray she first kicks her habits, she must do this first, or she'll spiral. Heath was a grown man and made his own choices. Mary is only responsible for her own health and well being. I pray she will attract good people to her life now to get her heart and head clear and strong Posted by: googlebutt on August 4, 2008 2:33 PM yeah Olsen twins are cute. Call Ashley and I'll have a good steak and lobster with her. My party nights are at Wolfgang Pucks Cut restaurant. Lou R. Posted by: biglou7 on August 4, 2008 2:38 PM They are freaky little things, those Olsens. Fame makes these kids self involved narcissists. Full of self pity, self adoration and self loathing, that's why they turn to drugs. Pity, that. It's "oxycoNtin." Why they chose to call it hillbilly heroin makes no sense. It can be just as dangerous and is almost as addictive as heroin itself. Not a drug to be played with lightly! I would certainly hope that Mary-Kate didnt do something foolish like give him more drugs in hopes that it would bring him around. The loss of Heath Ledger was tragedy enough! Posted by: DJRickH10 on August 4, 2008 5:21 PM First, celebrities virtually ALWAYS call their publicists/managers/attorneys before changing paper-towel brands, so it's wholly illogical to compare MK's choices here to anything one has noticed in his or her "experience" in law enforcement. To generalize makes NO sense. She's sui generis. Second, she has a vast fortune to protect in addition to her own liberty. Given her fame (or notoriety), there's no question that some DA's will keep her in the loop to flame THEIR careers and read about themselves on, Page Six, etc....so there's that, too. So, she has a lot to lose and SHOULD be extremely cautious and represented by whomever can insulate her the best. Posted by: NikkiVee on August 4, 2008 8:55 PM Reguardless of what anyone think, if the investigation didn't find anything linking her to the scene at the time of his death or any reason to believe that she had anything to do with it she has nothing to worry about. Maybe, with some extensive and indepth investigation they might find some miniscule piece of evident that would allow for the prosecutor to say it's not enough to warrant an arrest. Don't forget, it was said that MK bodyguards showed up three minutes before the police, what could be left to investigate after a clean up job, which in no doubt would have been thorough. Posted by: LryKitcn54 on August 5, 2008 3:56 AM I hate to say this but during my career as a cop I was in numerous fist fights, I boxed, crawled out of several ttaled patrol ars after ramming fleeing idiots and was involved in an explosion while on the bomb squad. One day I simply was swinging a small shovel and my neck went completely out. I was junked. I couldn't lay down. I slept in a recliner due to the pain. I took a toxic but pre scribed cocktail of oxvcontin, and roxycodone for pain and cymbalta and zanax for frustration at night. This was for almost two years while dealing with extensive therapy. In my opinion you have to try and overdose. I took mine as directed and never even felt a buzz, just blessed pain relief. People get in trouble when they powder it and mix it with urine or powder it and snort it. Posted by: Bonecrusher on August 5, 2008 8:57 PM |
