Line of the day goes to the New York Times' Virginia Heffernan, whose close read of the footage mistress Rielle Hunter shot of mistresser John Edwards results in this observation: "Above all, he comes off as a huge booster of online video, believing its nonstopness will keep him from resorting to platitudes."

Well, sure. If only John had kept that in mind during his interview with ABC's Bob Woodruff, when platitudes were all he had to fall back on after anxious prevarication proved unsuccessful.
