Spirits are low among the congressional Republicans who started a historic sit-in on the House floor a week ago today to protest Democratic inaction on high gas prices—and more specifically their failure to approve domestic oil drilling legislation. The usually plucky band of GOPers who started the revolt last Friday are not at all pleased to be giving hackneyed speeches blaming Democrats for gas prices in a desolate House chamber while Democrats are away on a five-week recess.

And bristling GOPers are being surprisingly candid about the effects of their little gambit!
