By Edward's own timeline, Elizabeth knew about this before he announced his candidacy. They are both smart enough to know that running for president would make the story more likely to come out.

Well of course she's part of a cover-up. How much responsibility you lay on her is your own personal decision but can you imagine what would have happened if he got the nomination? WE'D BE FUCKED. Holding a grudge against her is probably a dumb idea but there's no way you can claim she didn't know what his cheating would mean outside her private life. Sexual affairs are private yes..but it's not that simple in an election and no amount of cancer can make you that dumb. I wish her all the luck in her pursuit of happiness but I hope I never hear from them again.

John Edwards deserves every bad word said about him. He's a vain idiot. But you can't just say that Elizabeth is just a victim here. She decided to go along with a presidential campaign that could have destroyed the Democratic party if Edwards had won in the primaries. As a North Carolina Democrat, I'm glad to be done with them.

I don't understand why people believe this very ill woman would be able to stand up to her admittedly narcissistic and controlling husband, & suggest he not run. While she may have tried this, he doesn't sound like a guy who would say, 'gee, you're right.' He sounds like a guy who thinks he's God... or Gandhi, and can do whatever the hell he wants. It's not a wife's job to control her husband, or to think for him, or to make his decisions for him. While I don't agree with standing up for her man, no matter what bit of pond scum he is, I don't think the fault is hers. It's his, and his mistress's, problem, and they're the ones who should answer for it. Are you people going to start blaming their kids now, too, because THEY didn't stop him? He told his 'family,' remember - they were in on it. It's Edwards who deserves condemnation, not his family.

@Nidawi. No just her, because she was more than just a wife in this matter..she was very involved with politics and remedying our health care system and working to get back our country back from the retarded...obviously the kids have nothing to do with it.

Obviously none of the people making negative comments about Elizabeth are mothers or cancer patients. Do I think she knew about his cheating before he decided to run? Most likely. Still, with his ego, was she supposed to tell him no? The children that she was trying to protect...was she supposed to tell him no? She does have terminal cancer. Give the woman a break! She has done nothing wrong...nothing. She was trying to protect her family while dealing with cancer and an idiot for a husband. She all ready had given the news to her children, two of them being very young, that she is not going to live much longer. Unbelieveable to me that anyone would blame her for anything. Elizabeth Edwards is as bad as her husband. She knew what was going on, but lust for the White House took priority above all else. This is the same situation as the Clinton "marriage' in which Hillary was Ok with Slick Willes affairs and rapes.
In light of her lust for political power, I doubt the proclaimed status of her "cancer". I predict that Elizabeth Edwards wll live a long life and see a plethora of grandchildren. take that to ther 401K!
