The Man-Boys Are Back in Town

"Dude, Will Ferrell is, like, right there, man!" one frat-tastic guy yelled to his friend as the two exited the AMC Loews theater in Manhattan last night. The comedian had just arrived, along with friend/co-star John C. Reilly, to introduce their new movie Step Brothers at a special screening sponsored by Maxim magazine. And as might be expected, the funnymen had no trouble hamming it up for the hordes of panting 20-something guys in attendance.

"I'd like to thank Papa John's, and Hanes underwear for men, who helped bring this entire thing together," Reilly deadpanned from the front of the theater. "Also, the country of Ireland underwrote some of the film," Ferrell added, sporting a Ireland rugby jersey. Attendant bros, needless to say, were giddy.

But as proof of the actor-comedians' crossover appeal, so too were the gals, with one particularly enthused female fan screaming out, during the introduction speech, "I want your babies!" By now old hands at this sort of fawning, Ferrell and Reilly just laughed and moved on.

"This movie has a running time of six hours, which is just a hair longer than the new Batman movie," Ferrell joked. "There are going to be a few intermissions," chimed in director Adam McKay. "I think we're going to be serving pancakes during the second intermission," Ferrell concluded.

As a matter of manners, the stars thanked Maxim for allowing them to screen the flick—just before returning with a playful backhand: "Well, it also should be said that I think most everyone here is an FHM subscriber," Ferrell quipped. "Aren't these all just Maxim employees?" An amused Reilly parried, answering, "No, some of them are family members that I invited last minute! Where's my family at?" A handful of arms shot up. "Wait, we should play trivia. What movie was John C. Reilly nominated for the Academy Award for?" McKay asked. While everyone screamed out Chicago, Ferrell yelled, "You're all wrong. It was for his part in Days of Thunder. And you all should be ashamed!"

fyi. minor detail, but that's an Irish rugby jersey, not soccer jersey. just adds to the level of badass on Ferrell's part
