GOD AS YOUR WITNESS? Madonna, Rodriguezes (inset)
When Cynthia Rodriguez filed for divorce from Yankees star Alex Rodriguez earlier this week, pop icon Madonna's close relationship with A-Rod was cited as one of the reasons. But it wasn't just the gym-time Rodriguez logged in with Madge that reportedly caused marital strife. Recently, Rodriguez is rumored to have developed an interest Kabbalah, the school of Jewish mysticism for which Madonna has long been a high-profile celebrity representative. Wife Cynthia Rodriguez has implied that her husband's interest in the religion is more than passing, and that Madonna actually stoked his interest in the sect in order to lure him away. Dodd Romero, one of Rodriguez's former trainers, agrees, claiming that Madonna has effectively "brainwashed" the baseball star. In 2005, Radar conducted an extensive four-month investigation into the inner-workings on Kabbalah, from its star-studded list of devotees to its highly profitable—and some argue questionable—business practices. Check our findings by clicking through the Kabbalah Chronicles: Part One, Part Two, Part Three, and Part Four.
