Krauts Tout Obama

Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama finally gave his highly-anticipated speech in Berlin this afternoon and he totally blew it. Just take a look at some of the controversial themes of his "A World that Stands as One" speech: tearing down walls that divide us, trusting each other, coming together to save the planet, how great it would be if we lived in a world without nuclear weapons, dream of freedom = positive, and genocide is not good.

Just kidding. Those actually aren't controversial themes at all. Just platitudinous, and very well delivered. Kinda like every other Obama speech you've ever seen, but with lots more over-excited Germans in the audience (estimated crowd: 100,000). You can see from the clip above that while his appearance wasn't quite Hasselhoff on the Berlin Wall, it was still very well received.

Comments

let's hear it for "herding goats in kenya"!!

not so much platitudinous as the generation of germans he's talking to wouldn't know tempelhof from telefunken.
