Well this is interesting. After weeks of having played the role of villain in the public eye, Alex Rodriguez's friends are now trying to cast their stripper-loving pal in a different role: he's actually the victim in this whole sordid mess!

According to the Daily News, friends of A-Rod are claiming that the slugger has been "emotionally abused" by his wife Cynthia for years. She has a masters degree in psychology, you see, and she's used the knowledge she reaped from her fancy schooling to get into his head and exploit his vulnerabilities. She's probably the reason he can't buy a clutch hit in the postseason, too!

Among the litany of accusations brought against Cynthia:
