As Election Approaches, Zimbabwe Horror Continues

This picture, from the front page of today's New York Times, perfectly encapsulates the terror which the country's government is carrying out against its people. This is an 11-month-old baby in a Harare shelter. Supporters of President Robert Mugabe broke both of his legs in an attempt to force his mother to reveal the whereabouts of her husband, an opposition member. Meanwhile, the government insists that Friday's elections will proceed as scheduled, despite worldwide outrage (which finally includes a mild condemnation from Nelson Mandela).
