THE REAL ONE Boston Garden Of Yore

The names of the stadiums in which our beloved professional sports franchises play have almost universally been replaced by the hideous corporate monikers of companies which have shelled out tens of millions of dollars for the privilege. Denver's Mile High Stadium is now INVESCO Field; Anaheim's The Pond is now the Honda Center; Cleveland's Jacobs Field is now Progressive Field; The Oakland Coliseum now goes by McAfee Coliseum. (Thankfully, Harry Morton's Mexican restaurant chain Pink Taco lost its $30 million bid to purchase the naming rights to the Arizona Cardinals' new stadium back in 2006). To protest the trend, popular ESPN "The Sports Guy" columnist Bill Simmons (he's the dude who's not Rick Reilly) has taken to referring to the "TD Banknorth Garden" (formerly the Fleet Center, which took the place of the iconic Boston Garden) as "Whatever The Hell The Garden Is Called." A slight jab at The Man, until Simmons received the following email from a "reader" in Toronto:

• Meacham to the Washington Post, Zakaria to Newsweek?
• NEA: Why Don't You Love Art?
