THE FILTH AND THE FURY Carlin in memoriam

Today the Internet remembers George Carlin the only way it knows how: vulgarly. Twitter, the 140-character mini-blog platform, is inundated with memorials for the comedian. Carlin died just weeks prior to the 30th anniversary of the Supreme Court's F.C.C. v Pacifica—which articulated further the difference between indecency an obscenity and was instrumental in the creation of the "safe harbor" of nighttime broadcasts (when the kiddies are asleep)—and was spurred by Carlin's "seven dirty words" routine, now flooding an Internet near you.
