In the forthcoming issue of Vanity Fair, James Wolcott wonders: Why did straight men get so gay about each other under the Bush administration, whether it's every male journalist's affection for McCain, or George Clooney confessing his love for Brad Pitt, or Tony Blair and George Bush and their great sweater gift exchange. What sounds like a truly silly piece is actually oddly convincing in places.
