American Apparel founder Dov Charney built his t-shirt empire by selling hipsters on the idea that his clothes will enable you to have sex with the lithe young men and women who populate American Apparel ads. Or, at least, fantasize about them while you sweat it out in your air-conditonless Williamsburg closet. Now it seems like he's letting his consumers take matters into their own hands: Charney has started hawking the popular Hitachi Magic Wand vibrator in the American Apparel online store.

Caveat emperor: Charney sells the vibrator for $50, which is $10 more than Amazon charges. Presumably, the markup is due to the fact that American Apparel's customers prefer the risque brand affiliation, and not because Charney is giving each vibrator a personal test-run before putting it on the open market.
