< BACK TO Fresh Intelligence Winehouse's Fists of Fury
PUNCH DRUNK Amy • First gay marriage, now this: Pixar's critically lauded Wall-E topped the pride weekend box office, marking both a commercial and a symbolic victory for sorta gay robots everywhere. • Not so diplomatic: In a new New Yorker article, Seymour Hersh reports that the Bush administration has been increasing covert ops in Iran. SURE, THERE'S MORE: Old people and STDs; defending Dowd; and a Buffet lunch special! • Flight costs: The British Ministry of Defense has disclosed the price tag of some of Prince William's high flying shenanigans. It cost UK taxpayers over $16,000 for William to land his chopper in his girlfriend's backyard, and another $16,000 for the prince to air taxi himself and Harry to their cousin's bachelor party. • Mo problems: New York Times columnist Gail Collins defends fellow columnist Maureen Dowd and her coverage of Hillary Clinton, writing, "When the public editor laces into an opinion page columnist for making fun of a controversial political figure, it sounds like a suggestion that all of us tone things down. I hope I'm hearing wrong." • Aging grodily: Research in Britain shows that STD rates for those over 45 have doubled. Blame Internet dating, erectile disfunction drugs, deep V-neck shirts. • Bard tard: Oliver Stone calls his George W. Bush biopic, W, a "Shakespearean story." • Trusted seller: A Chinese businessman has won an eBay auction for a lunch with richie richie Warren Buffet, bidding $2.1 million for the dining experience. Sounds a bit right considering current food prices.
I Remember jack said gnarles barkley's crazy and winehouse's rehab were the most soulful songs for the year they were released (2006/2007 respectively) and complained about the infrequency of soulful songs. Hardly debatable points. But this generation's janis joplin?? i'm not sure about that, i don't draw the parrallels. The other most soulful song of 2006 was blue veins off the raconteurs debut, probably why Alicia Keys would like to work with him as well.
