< BACK TO Fresh Intelligence Will Vito Fossella Campaign For Re-election From Jail?
Republicans, already facing a challenging election cycle, are predictably unthrilled, at least on the national level. Over on the Isle of Staten, there is "enthusiastic support" for the multiple-family having politician. Although that support is tempered with a bit of realism. Staten Island capo Guy Molinari's endorsement: "If he chooses to run, I think he can win. It would take an all-out effort and a substantial amount of money. But there are a lot of people pledging support for him." Meanwhile, there's still that pesky DUI hanging over the congressman's head. The New York Daily News looks into the Alexandria, VA, jail Fossella might spend the better part of a week in if convicted. While the paper reports that the prison isn't any kind of luxury hotel, it is "a modern, 'new generation' jail with a national reputation—and it doesn't have any bars. Cell doors glide open electronically, and inmates spill out into common areas on four floors." At the very least it sounds like an interesting change of pace from the garage. Advertisement |
