The Idiot Box
The Totally Lame Gossip Girl Season Finale

Harumph. You call that a season finale? Seriously, there were so many things that bugged us about last night's episode of Gossip Girl that we don't even know where to begin. The show's writers sort of redeemed themselves in the final 10 minutes when they paved the way for a whole season's worth of teenage bed-hopping (we hope!) by setting up every character with a different person than they began the episode with, but we couldn't help but feel kind of underwhelmed by how things panned out.

In no particular order, let's review:

Why was the whole Georgina thing wrapped up before the second commercial break? As much as we hated her, she admittedly gave the show a much-needed kick in the ass; her sudden departure—at the hands of her parents, no less—was terribly anti-climatic. Why did Rufus, hours after spending a night of passion with former groupie and love of his life Lily, seem so okay with her marrying Bart Bass? He literally went from threatening to call off her wedding to acting all Father of the Bride in under a minute. Why did Vanessa and Nate break up off camera? And why was their no explanation other than, "She's a great girl but things didn't work out?" Weren't they pretty much in love last week? Why was Jenny Humphrey freaking out about her Parsons internship even though the letter arrived in a giant envelope, which is the universal sign for "We accepted your application?" Why didn't Serena tell Dan she did not actually bone two dudes she met at 1Oak until after he had already broken up with her? Wouldn't that be the first thing you'd tell your boyfriend? Was the site of bony Lydia Hearst really enough to turn the reformed Chuck Bass into his old self? Why wasn't the finale two hours long? WHY DO I CARE SO MUCH?

Whatever. Maybe we're just bitter that we're about to embark on a Gossip Girl-less summer. Hopefully the clip above is enough to tide you over. XOXO.
