As the battle between Gen X and the Millenials is waged in cubicles and hipster-stuffed dive bars around the country, economist.com asks, "Can slackers go corporate?" The answer? Probably not.
The piece notes that while Gen Xers "pulled it together, took showers, shaved their goatees, and got jobs (many of the plucky entrepreneurial types even started tech firms)," they're not experiencing the joy and revelry that once came from selling out and getting a complete bedroom set from Pottery Barn and a kite-surfing rig. The problem may not be so much that Gen Xers can't handle the corporate life, but more so that the perks of going corporate aren't what they used to be.
