Since April 1, Di Bruno Bros. eatery and caterers in Philly have been selling two candidate-themed specialty sandwiches, allowing its patrons to vote daily with their intestines. What do sandwich sales tell us about the Pennsylvania primary?

First some background. "Clinton's Big City Pastrami" packs pastrami, pickled tomatoes, green olive tapenade, onions, and Swiss ementhaler cheese between pumpernickel bread. "We really hooked it up," Di Bruno's food service team leader Danny Ferraiolo tells Radar. In researching an Obama-themed morsel, he adds, "We found out Chicago, where the Senator is from, is really known for hot dogs. We also found out Barack is a big fan of chili and even makes his own." The "Barackwurst" combines veal bratwurst with Kobe beef chili and shredded sharp cheddar on a pumpernickel bun. Both sandwiches are $8.99.

By day's end yesterday, the restaurant had sold 385 Clinton's Big City Pastramis and 382 Barackwursts. There's about a two-sandwich margin of error he explained, Ferraiolo explained. Today, the sales are on course for another close one. "It's been a really tight race," he says.

Hopefully, after the primary, the candidates can sit down together and enjoy a steaming hot "McNasty," which combines aged beef and bitter mustard on a sourdough roll, topped with just a sprinkle of Metamucil and served in a tightly sealed box.
