Tight-cropped Irish Irate Over Dublin Drape

Like Haley's Comet with its majestic tail, the mullet is making a cyclical, though somewhat surreptitious, comeback in Ireland according to one disturbed Dubliner. "For some bizarre reason, 13- to 18-year-old boys have adopted these mullets," writes an outraged Sean O'Brien. As he sees it, these youngsters have somehow deluded themselves into thinking they aren't sporting hockey hair by dyeing the party-in-the-back fringe, but the ploy has hardly fooled the angry Irishman: "Short hair and shaved sides with raggedy feathers hanging from the back is a mullet, and there is no getting away from that fact." Mr. O'Brien has sought to address the trend in the cut we Americans know as the "Kentucky waterfall" or the "Missouri compromise" via an indignant letter to the editor because "mullets should not exist in the 21st century, and no one should ever be subjected to the sight of them."
