Last night on Hardball, Chris Matthews asked Barack Obama the question the whole country has been wondering: "What's it like to be a black kid with a white mom?" To his credit, Obama responded with a restrained and thoughtful explanation, rather than smacking Matthews across the face or shouting "Read The Color of Water, ya ignorant motherfucker," which is totally the way we would have gone. Later in the interview Matthews wonders what the Illinois senator thinks about "white chicks... I mean, would you do one?" Okay, not really, but not entirely out of the realm of possibility either.
