Are PR Interns Trying to Save Nina Garcia's Job?

The Nina Garcia vs. Elle tiff is now in its third week, yet both parties are still keeping mum as to whether or not Garcia will stay with the mag and thus retain her high-profile gig as Project Runway judge. WWD noted last week that the former Elle fashion director has even hired Rubenstein PR to deal with the media frenzy, though it seems the PR firm might not be using its top guns to manage the situation.

A source tells Jezebel that "Rubenstein has handed off some of the Garcia damage control work to its interns, deploying legions of them to comment on sites like Perez Hilton and TMZ. The minions leave encouraging and kind remarks, complete with stats on Nina's many successes while at Elle in the comments." Examples are everywhere, with most reading like this one from "lovenina2": "hire her another assistant, keep her on the show and if anyone at elle magazine is reading this—i specifically bought a subscription this year because of nina!"

A flack at Rubenstein denies that the PR firm is behind the posting. "It wasn't us. When we post comments, we believe in making clear who we are." Asked who she thought the mystery posters might be, the rep adds, "We do not know who it was."
