• Fight for idiocy crown continues: Soren Dayton, a recently hired aide for team John McCain, has been suspended for Twittering a racist mashup video of rival Barack Obama with pastor Jeremiah Wright. Proving once again that ... nothing. It proves nothing.

• Who? What? Huh?: Paramount Pictures Chief Brad Grey said today in testimony that he has no recollection of the dirty deeds done on his behalf by imprisoned PI Anthony Pellicano.

• Wit's windfall: A Canadian man who runs Stuff White People Like, a popular new blog that skewers stuff white people like, has reportedly landed a book deal for an advance in the $350,000 range. Writer Kurt Andersen, who works for the publisher, Random House, is said to be interested in pitching in on the edit side.

• Hell to pay: An inspector who lied about records of a crane that fell in Manhattan killing seven people has been arrested, though it is thought that his infractions had little if anything to do with the ultimate outcome.
