Kelefa Sanneh, the New York Times critic tasked with explaining Timbaland to Mid West librarians, Alan Jackson to Timbaland fans, and Daft Punk to Bill Keller, is leaving the paper.

Rumor has it the New Yorker has already snatched him up as a staff writer covering culture and that an announcement could come from the magazine early this week.
