Attorneys for alleged pervert billionaire Jeffrey Epstein aren't taking accusations that their client is a pedophile sitting down. We just received the following statement from Epstein lawyers Guy Lewis and Michael Tein regarding the lawsuits filed by 14-year-old "Jane Doe 1" and 16-year-old "Jane Doe 2", both of whom are accusing Epstein of sexually assaulting them during private "massages" at his Palm Beach estate:

"This is [plaintiff] Attorney Herman's second 50-million-dollar lawsuit against Mr. Epstein. It is an outrageous, defamatory, copycat of the first. Both complaints are full of lies. Indeed, Mr. Herman's first lawsuit was filed without the plaintiff's knowledge and over her objection. Mr. Herman is now exposed to a contempt sanction.

"Whoever Jane Doe '2' is, she is an adult and her allegations are false. We decline to prosecute this case in the media as her attorneys are clearly attempting to do. Instead, we'll fight this in Court as the rules provide."

Jane Doe 1 has in fact declared that she'd kindly like to extricate herself from this sordid mess, at least until she's 18. According to a brief obtained by Radar and filed by her mother, Jane Doe 1's father went ahead with the $50 million civil suit against Epstein on January 24, 2008, despite the fact that he'd been estranged from his daughter since Thanksgiving of 2007. Which, of course, doesn't necessarily mean that the sexual assault didn't happen—just that a 14-year-old girl isn't comfortable dealing with it in a court of law. (Or, more cynically, that her mom thinks she's the one who should benefit when in fact Doe is ready to deal with it.)

As for Jane Doe 2, well, that's news to us. She's listed as 16 in the briefing. So perhaps Lewis and Tien know something we don't!
