TMZ offers an interesting interpretation of "proof" it was right (and everyone else, including the LAPD, was wrong) when it reported that, "TMZ has learned Sam Lutfi is under investigation by the LAPD for allegedly drugging Britney Spears" and saying "We're told the investigation is very much active."

It's the updated statement from the police:

The issues regarding Britney Spears are being considered by the department to determine if laws have been violated. Particular suspects have not yet been fully identified nor has a formal investigation into open charges officially commenced. At this time we don't know whether or not a formal investigation will be initiated.

So, see! Nah!

AP, and pretty much the rest of the world, has a different interpretation of the same statement.
