< BACK TO Fresh Intelligence Ben Silverman Is Not Optimistic About Friday Night Lights
PEACOCK Ben Radar: Quick question! A lot of us are happy that you've kept Friday Night Lights on the air despite lousy ratings. It's totally the best show on TV. But is there going to be another season? Not regularly. But what about FNL? I don't want to watch 30 Rock. I want to watch FNL. I love it. Don't say you were never warned. A few other things about Silverman: He was wearing a slim-cut navy suit with no tie and black loafers; he didn't stop smiling the entire time he was there, to the point where you wondered if he was always naturally "on" or if he was under some sort of medication; and he seemed to know about 80 percent of the females in the room, most of whom kissed him on the cheek, hugged him, or squealed "Hiiiii Ben!" when talking to him.
Yoko loves 30 Cocks! What breadth and depth to that talented cast... Posted by: yoko on February 1, 2008 3:51 PM At least 30 Rock gets nominated for shit. That's why it's slightly better than FNL. Posted by: MadisonLibs on February 2, 2008 2:26 PM Is Silverman seriously implying that a Peabody & AFI awards winning show with universal critical acclaim is dragging down NBC's "reputation"? Is he on crack? Posted by: scaper1 on February 2, 2008 10:02 PM So NBC is about ratings rather than quality is it? Not exactly the best message to be sending about your Network is it? Go figure... Posted by: Natalie76 on February 5, 2008 6:48 PM Advertisement NBC does not have any high rated shows. Instead of showing Lipstick Jungle commercials all the time, they should focus on promoting Friday Night Lights, the best show on TV. Period. I can not stand 30 Rock. And no one watches that show either, Mr. Silverman, if you are so concerned about ratings. I do not know a single person who likes it and believe me, we've tried based on the critical acclaim. If NBC does not bring FNL back, I am going to boycott the network. Posted by: bartko80 on February 6, 2008 8:59 AM NBC's marketing sucks and they push the shows that THEY love (i.e. 30 Rock).....In my opinion FNL is one of the best written dramas that NBC has ever ran, the young actors, as well Kyle and Connie , all do tremndous jobs......this is not the first NBC has let a show fly under the radar, we lost a great show a couple of years back in "The Black Donnellys"!!! Don't get wrong, I think 30 Rock is funny, not great, just funny, but it was pitched to survive, given it's Thursday night time slot, I think that helps a show, because NBC has always marketed and pushed Thursday night shows. I am with you bartko80!!! Posted by: bills819 on February 8, 2008 10:42 AM And NBC wonders why there in last place every year! FNL is one of there top shows. Funny how they think 30 ROCK is great and it is the most overrated show on TV. The script is week and the acting is MTV worthy. FNL is strong every week with characters you know or can relate to. You finally think you have a show you and your kids will actually enjoy together and look forward to and they rip it out of there lineup. Posted by: viton7 on February 8, 2008 7:02 PM How sad that FNL, easily one of the best shows on TV, is in danger. It makes a person wonder just what sort of reputation they're trying to uphold here! It seems to me that if NBC wanted to stand for quality programming they'd keep FNL around despite weak ratings, but knowing the current state of television they'll most likely fill its slot with yet another "reality" series and pat themselves on the back about how much money they can make when they don't actually have to be concerned with nonsense like writing, acting -- talent! If NBC pulls FNL they'll have lost a viewer in me. No way will I watch 30 Rock over FNL. Posted by: KMJess on February 10, 2008 4:30 AM Mr. Silverman has no idea what he is doing. 30 Rock is the worst show I have ever seen! FNL is amazing in both the acting and the writing, but he just doesn't want to give it 2 seconds worth of time. You almost never see any promotion for FNL but boy does he make sure that the rest of the junk that's on NBC gets plenty of promotion. It seems to me that he's already made up his mind and doesn't really care what us, the FANS and people who actually watch his channel want to see. Maybe if he put 1/2 the effort and passion into FNL and give it a good time slot it would pull in better ratings. I agree with KMJess, if they cancel FNL I will never watch another NBC show. As it is FNL is the only NBC show I currently watch. Shame on you Mr. Silverman, Shame on you. You may just be the biggest, cockiest, moran on the planet!!! Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Cancel!!!!!!! Posted by: jennifer03878 on February 10, 2008 4:33 PM SOrry Mr Silverman I do not watch 30 Rock and do not want to watch 30 ROck!!!! MR Baldwin is not my cup of tea!!! I LOVE FNL!!! And want to see it come back other than Law and Order on wed nites it is the only series I watch. LOVE ALL THE CHARACTERS and the stories. Would not watch 30 ROCK IF YOU PAID ME and FNL is the best show on TV not 30 Rock
Posted by: amysgrl on February 10, 2008 7:45 PM Exactly. This is why NBC is in last place. They have no idea what their audience is. They only push what's in their agenda. Their cable news channels are the same way. Pushing their agenda all the time. FNL is a great show and I've never missed an episode. Posted by: dubya on February 11, 2008 6:30 PM 30 Rock isn't even the best NBC comedy on Thursday night, as Earl and Office are much better. Keeping FNL is the right thing to do. It's an excellent show that is critically acclaimed, but just hasn't found its audience yet (the move to Fridays is partially responsible for this). Posted by: mike36fan on February 13, 2008 12:03 PM UGH! Stupid nbc! FNL was the only show I watched on there. Their so dumb. 30 rock? Wtf? I dont even know what that is, not to mention I bet it sucks and is full of BS. If they were smart they'd bring back FNL Posted by: confuzzlement on May 6, 2008 3:42 AM |
