100 Newsroom Jobs Axed at NYT

  • New York Times Executive Editor Bill Keller has announced 100 newsroom job cuts, about seven percent of the staff, Portfolio's Jeff Bercovici is reporting. Jeff says he's waiting for calls back from the Times spokespeople, and now, so are we. [Portfolio]

    UPDATE: The New York Times confirms that it will eliminate 100 jobs this year, setting up what will surely be a Office Space-like series of meetings to determine who gets to be unemployed. "The cuts will be achieved primarily through attrition and buyouts, but layoffs are a real possibility, said the executive editor, Bill Keller."
